I think it depends on your interest. What you want to be? Both are good in its own way but it’s you who should decide your own future because if you study something on someone’s suggestion or force then you might loose interest in it while studying so just choose what you want.
Yes bro …..
It depends as IT courses like BSC.CSIT, BIM, BIT, BCA are comparatively easier (but not easy by no means) than engineering and other IT courses gives you more time to learn other skills than engineering courses. And at last all depends upon your interest .
If your intention is to become an engineer or pursue your career in IT , you need to choose by yourself first .
In the context of Nepal IT is evolving not fully but slowly , Computer engineer is kind of almost similar to any IT courses in Nepal . You need to make mindset to learn something during those periods, so i would not recommend personally any specific either IT or engineer but I will definitely go for IT as i am also studying BSc CSIT . It does not matter what are you studying unless you grow your skills .
AT the end of the day people wont ask you what you have read in past 4 years ,but what you learn besides syllabus to be succeed in IT field.
It’s depends upon you. which fields do you like most you can choose this and give your best.
IT- Information Technology, is the use of any computers, storage, networking, and other physical devices, infrastructure, and processes to create, process, store, secure, and exchange all forms of electronic data.
Engineers, as practitioners of engineering, are professionals who invent, design, analyze, build and test machines, and complex systems. An engineer might be of various fields like Civil engineering, Computer engineering, IT Engineer, Sofware engineering, Electrical engineering, and many more.
Now, if you have to choose between the IT course and the Engineering course, then it totally depends on you, your interest, and your financial conditions. If you just want to learn and explore the IT domain then you can go with any IT course like BCA, or BScIT. Or, you can choose any engineering courses like Computer Science Engineering or Software Engineering.
I think IT with Engineering is best because Engineering doesn’t just teach about engineering. It teaches you about life, teaches you to how to handle pressure, teaches you to How to deal with stress and anxiety, and many more. These are all my learnings and experiences, it might be different for others.
Please take your own right decisions, if you have to choose among the ones.
Thank you!!
Engineering is a discipline with multiple fields from building physical infrastructure to chemical engineering to biomedical to mechanical.
IT sits in similar to Computer Engineering.
If you are thinking of choosing between CE and IT then one thing to consider is Engineer gets Er. which can be a requirement if you want to work in certain field in future because Gov treats Engineer with much more superiority than IT Personal.
Apart from that there is not much difference in working industry. I have seen CE graduates and IT grad working on a same project. But the IT course is much easier and hassle free then CE.
Not to mention you can do any engineering but then work in IT sector because IT is all about skills and your ability to learn continuously.
It depends on what you value more. Degree or skills.
Personally I am doing CSIT even after getting nice enough rank in engineering, cause i figured out I would love giving more time to extra skills and participating in events more than having Er. title. But Er. title might help you more in governmental jobs.
If you feel you want Er. before your name, do engineering but it will be more hectic than CSIT or other IT courses. See the syllabus and analyze what you would like more. Also, later on after CSIT you can do Masters in Software Engineering, if you feel like you want to do engineering later.
If you just fear societal judgements of not being an engineer. IT people are working as engineers in many tech companies, nobody will ask you what you read after picking up a career and it won’t matter much to them like it does to you anyways.
Go as per your priorities.🥳
IT (CSIT)
There is no such thing as ‘best or better’ in this case. It depends on your career plans and whether you enjoy working more with hardware or software. They both lead to lucrative and secure jobs, so which one is better will always depend on your plans.
There is nothing as best it depends on what you want and understanding the difference.
If you go through syllabus of both the courses you can get overview of the difference.
For me, as an study you should go for Engineering and not an IT courses. Bachelor studies should be more focused on understanding systems on how it works more then usage of system; there is always time for learning usage later on. An Engineer will always look at things with different perspective whereas IT fields will be more limited. It is highly unlikely for you to get involved in roles of designing applications if you are from IT field most of the time you will work on the design and decisions of others and never be on that spot which can create dissatisfaction with work you do as you grow.
Now in terms of Nepal I see tendency of colleges offering IT courses instead of Engineering or computer science courses because there is generally a bottleneck in terms of Engineers. Though Nepal IT industry is doing fairly well, if you see the kind of work we are doing is very limited nothing in terms of innovation or actually solving any nuance problem that exist in the industry. In terms of students, they generally are inspiring to take easy way out earn some living for which IT is suitable route. We are never actually looking to look deep down into problems and explore our capability as individual to solve problems. It is almost we have accepted the path of followers and follow what west is doing and even in after next few generations we will be doing same thing if we don’t start on changing our way of thinking.
So I would suggest go for Engineering, IT will always be there as fallback plan. Even in IT level work if you do it with Engineering knowledge the work done will be better, so it is win-win.
