Few days ago, RONB posted an advertisement of a youtube channel who made a page turning robot.
The reaction to most of them were “Kya useless kura banako”.
Do these idiots know how to google? And these people aren’t old people. They’re 20 years old. 22 years old. 18 years old. Youths, the future of this country. (No they’re not going to get US or any reputed country at all. I’ve kept track of all my friends who got into proper education countries, None of them were as stupid as them. They’ll end up in Australia lol-but it’s not easy nowadays there haha)
How do you know that’s useless?
A simple google search brings me various research papers that explain how useful that this can be. Specially to a country that’s like Nepal. First use it can be used for digitizing files stored manually.
Don’t be stupid and ask, “tyo kasari milxa”. Even right brothers who were literally born in first world with all the resources spoon-fed to them, didn’t made boeing airbus at the first design. While the situation is vastly different as Nepal is still 500 years behind in science, technology and innovation, but you can understand it.
Nothing is useless. The thing is very common and basic project taught in any electronics projects of arduino, rasperberry or whatever I haven’t used any of them.
There’s a whole use case for others already.
Why is this a problem?
This is nothing but an inferiority complexity. I support this inferiority complexity because I too agree partially with that.
I won’t trust anyone who claims they’re researcher, scientist, entrepreneur, in Nepal. I’ll make a good joke about them.
But it’s not because I have problem with those people. It’s because I have problem with this country. Even if you graduated from pulchowk engineering campus, no foreign investor is going to trust in your idea for your business. What business are you going to do? India bata saman lyaera kathmandu ma bechne? How is that going to help society? How’d that transform society? (Even the people who’re doing that, aren’t doing it right. Even that can help people).
What kind of research are you going to do? LOL? There’s not a single college in nepal where there are researchers. Our college was private and none of the teachers had even 1 research paper that they published outside of master’s thesis.
Nepal ma business garne? Any bau ama can support you? Unless you get lucky and start mining crores within 1 year, your relatives will show you and treat you like “shit or joker”. Trying to do anything in Nepal that I mentioned above are trying to find wells in desert.
This is because, till government doesn’t support you, you can’t do anything. Till government doesn’t start giving tax benefits to nepalese businessmen (with an obligation to reduce product costs), digitizing ever administrative hassles, providing quality education in colleges…
But why is that wrong?
This is wrong because this is a problem of our society.
We voted for balen because he was balen. I can bet that not even 10% of his voters read his manifesto.
Just because someone is ethical than our old bhrastachari netas(or at least appears to be), should we let him handle the “bagdor”?
And balen unsurprisingly is not what he tries to potray himself as. Very disappointed. He is an egomaniac who has a feeling that “iniharu ko lagi ma mayor bhaideko”. He doesn’t understand how big responsibility that he holds. The future of this country’s next election depends on what he does, plans in the next 2-3 months.
There’s no difference among “hanumans” voting prachanda and shere because of no reason and “so called intellectuals” doing the same for balen(or sagar dhakal, or any rabi lamichane or anyone others). And these stupid people will cause havoc in Next election if left unchecked.
The leg pulling of that guy shows how scientific temperament and rationality lacks in this region. Nobody cared to even google. Even myself had the first thought, “yo ta useless hola”..But I cared enough to google and learn how useful that could be.
It’s important we appreciate these people. Yes, code copy gareko hola, tutorial follow gareko hola. But timle gareu? Did you do it?
These idiots praise “mahabir pun” but when someone is trying to work in science (not everyone needs to write papers or open innovation centre, there are lots of way to use science as hobby i.e youtube channel), they don’t. They don’t think, they’re made to think sth by society. These types of people know how to do 1+1, but will start asking to friends and teachers when someone asks them to add 100+100, they get confused with this.
We’re at least 500 years behind in terms of developing temperament for science and innovation. But we can accelerate 450 years fast. There’re books, papers, universities, colleges to learn these. We need to appreciate people like these. Not telling you to go to his youtube channel and like his videos. I don’t care whatever you do to him now, appreciate anyone trying to do sth in science and engineering and innovation. Maybe provide some constructive feedback if you have any ideas about how they work. 1 shot google garna aunna, comment ma dadagiri chai nadekhauda ramro.
Although I used to believe that young people are incompetent and base their lives on pointless and cheap dopamine-producing activities, we are powerless to alter them. I would therefore cease whining and begin to disregard anything that was of no benefit to me at the time.
